No DVI port on my GeForce

Gusto

My GeForce armor Rtx 2070 doesn’t come with a DVI port so I need to buy an adaptor because my Acer only comes with DVI cables. My question is do I need a DVI to HDMI, or an HDMI to DVI adaptor? I know it seems so dumb, but I’m a scatter brain and don’t want to accidentally buy the wrong one

Actually, you need Display Port to DVI.

If your monitor only needs DVI Single Link (as in 1920x1200 60 Hz or lower), you can use a basic HDMI-DVI adapter and a hdmi cable :

Amazon.com: AmazonBasics HDMI to DVI-D Adapter - 2-Pack: Electronics

You can find these for 1-2$ on eBay. HDMI cables can be found anywhere.

If you need higher resolutions, you'll want DisplayPort to DVI ACTIVE converters. No guarantee you'll get more than 60Hz , depends on converter.

Do those adapters work for the dual link for high res monitors? I've read so many mixed reviews etc that I just don't know if they even work :/

If it's an ACTIVE converter which advertises DUAL LINK, then they'll do up to something like 2560x1600 or 3840x1440, I'm not sure about 4K on DVI.

It may be possible to get more, but by lowering the refresh rate to 50 Hz or 30 Hz.... and again, depends on the converter chip inside the active converter.
