Can AMD GPU be used for 3D rendering, Unity, Unreal, etc?

Recently XFX released 5700XT at great prices (cheaper than 2060S). So I’m tempted to buy it.

Can you please tell me what are the disadvantages of AMD GPU vs Nvidia GPU in workstation.

Which render engines will I be unable to use and will there be any performance effect on Unreal, Unity, 3Ds max, Maya, Octance, Vray, Blender etc.

Unity and Unreal, definitly.

For 3d rendering, I don't know if Blender uses something compatible, but Amd has their own renderer called ProRenderer which works on both blender & 3ds max

sounds like the 5700XT would do real well. I know for a fact that Blender's OpenCL implementation is really great, and AMD graphics cards perform pretty well in renders.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Thanks for your answer. I checked Chaos group's gpu benchmark, they have no benchmarks for AMD GPUs, although Vray is supposed to be compatible.

Unfortunately Octane and Redshift definitely aren't compatible.
