OnePlus earbuds: I'm confused?

Hello. I'm considering the OnePlus 7 Pro, which does not have a headphone jack. So, on their website, I also looked for USB-C earbuds and there are too options that confuse me a lot.

https://www.oneplus.com/product/oneplus-type-c-bullets-earphones The eardubs as a standalone claim to be USB-C, so I'm inclined to believe that they work on their own, without the need of additional tools. But then, OnePlus also sells this bundle:

So, do I need that orange dongle? What's it made for?
