Hello.

So I have a problem with i7-3770S CPU that sits on top of 1155 sockets GA-H61MA-D3V motherboard. So when I use this computer thru CPUs integrated graphics it works great, but when I try to add any discreet graphic card it seems that it does not detect it and anyway shows image thru IGP. I have a few different cards and it is not working with any of them.

Things I have tried:

1) Different graphic cards - not working with any of them with this CPU,

2) Tried different motherboards - same problem,

3) Updated to latest BIOS - no result,

4) Tried to start with bare minimum of components but still no result

5) Tried different RAM - no change

6) At last tried different CPU and it runs with no problem!

Can't figure out whats wrong with this CPU. Will be really glad to hear some ideas or maybe someone had similar problem and found a way how to fix it.

For now seems like that only option is to change CPU to resolve this problem.

I wonder if there's something wrong with the CPU's PCIe lanes. Maybe you could test it with a PCIe network card or sound card.

I had this CPU in different build. There I paired it with R9 380X GPU on a similar motherboard and worked like charm!

does the pcie socket work? might've been broken

Tried this combination of CPU and few different GPUs on different motherboards, but there were no result. When I replaced CPU with another these GPUs worked with no problem!

So it used to work. Interesting.

I would thoroughly check the underside of the CPU - check the capacitors (though it could be impossible to tell if one is missing) and check the pads for grease/corrosion that could affect the contact with the socket.

Sorry. I misspelled the idea. I had another 3770S that I build in another system and that CPU worked with R9 380X instantly. This CPU that I have now had not worked with any of discreet graphic cards from the moment I tried to pair it with one!

Ah, so the PCIe lines could still be broken, and might've been from the get-go.

As I said, I would try using a PCIe x1 card (sound/network/...), maybe even in different PCIe slots. If there actually are dead PCIe lanes, some might still work. In that case, you could use a PCIe x1 to x16 riser and run a budget GPU just fine. (I tested x1 speeds on my system and IIRC PCIe 3.0 x1 was within margin of error on my GPU).
