144hz AOC monitor working with HDMI but not DP

So i just bought a new aoc monitor and when i plugged in the DP to my 1070 the monitor and windows couldn't find any monitor detected but when i used a hdmi cable it worked flawlessly any ideas why the display port isnt working

Have you tried changing the input on the monitor from HDMI to DP.

should i go and buy a new DP cable or just return the monitor and see if its the monitor's issue

I would try a different cable first. I've had bad DP cables cause all sorts of issues with monitors.

im goning to take it back and get them to test the monitor because i dont have another cable and dont want to buy a new one just in case its the port on the monitor
