So I'm driving a Daewoo Nubira 1.6 2002 Petrol. Manual/stick gear

When releasing the throttle there is about 1-1.5 second delay before the engine actually reacts to it.

You can feel it if you run about 80km/h /50mph? - in third gear at about 4000 rpm, then let go, it'll react after 1-1.5 seoncds..
I've tested it also by releasing the throttle then instantly pressing the clutch. Sure enough RPM's start to drop after 1-1.5 seconds.

Before that the RPM's pretty much stay where they are.

So what gives? it makes it hard to time gear switches with RPM's if you wanna do it fast.

That sounds like rev hang (a "feature" added by manufacturer to reduce emissions)

If the car has electronic throttle that's exactly what it is. If the car has cable throttle there could be something else awry.

I saw the video about rev hang here:

https://www.carthrottle.com/post/rev-hang-explained-and-why-petrolheads-hate-it/

Definitely not reacting as fast as this guys car. The revs stay constant for about a second, don't drop at all on mine. It's only after a second they start to drop.

rev hang? um no and especially that year and its a stick
that sounds like your throttle is sticking slightly...might be gunked up at the throttle body

So basically try cleaning the throttle body? (the flipping lid thingy)
