Hey guys, this is my first post here :)

My GTX 1070 recently died and I've been borrowing a Rx580 off a friend in the meantime until I can get a new GPU. What would be a decent upgrade from a GTX 1070? I've been looking at the RTX 2060 Super as a potential candidate but I'm not sure if I should jump for the 2070 Super rather ( I'm unsure of AMD's equivalents ). I game at 1080p60 Ultrawide ( 2560x1080 )

My specifications are as follows:

CPU: Ryzen 3600 @ stock speeds

Motherboard: Asus Strix B350-f

Ram: 16Gb Corsair Vengeance 3200mhz

PSU: Corsair Rm850x

Any advice would be much appreciated.

- Steven

EDIT: I should add that the 2070 Super retails for about $700 ( US ) by me and the 2060 Super is about $570 ( US ) Joys of being from South Africa ?

The 5700 costs the same as the 2060, and performs the same as the 2060 Super, so that's the best value card at that price range and would be a perfect fit for 1080p ultrawide. The 2060 Super is in an awkward spot because the ray tracing performance is pretty poor. I'd recommend the 2070 Super if you care about ray tracing (Which you probably aren't bothered about).

5700XT is also there. That sits in between the 2060 Super and 2070 Super performance-wise, but is priced the same as a 2060 Super, so that's an option if you want a nice middle ground.

I would say you're not gonna need any more than the 5700. I'd get that if I were you. But if you want the extra oomph, consider paying more for either the 5700XT or 2070 Super.

I personally would not buy any of the RTX cards. The main feature that you are paying for (Ray Tracing), is a complete and utter failure, a flop. You can count the games that support RTX, and the games that will implement RTX on a single hand.

Why would you want to buy a 2060S when the 5700XT is cheaper, and is also more powerful.

I have an RTX 2070 paired with a i7 8700k

It runs beautiful

A buddy of mine is running an RTX 2060 Super paired with with an i5 9500k.

We both play at 1080p and his system is pretty much on par with mine. We don't use ray tracing

Yeah man, go for the 2060 Super, or see if you can get a better deal with the AMD equivalent. And man those South African prices are brutal man...

I play at 1440p 144hz so I went with the 2070 super. I picked it because it was the most powerful card in my price range and I was interested in DLSS. From my experience ray tracing is cool but also has a huge impact on frame rate. DLSS is hit or miss from game to game.

That's a good point, I never really looked into the 5700xt to be honest. What sku's could you recommend ? The ROG Strix version is pretty pricey here unfortunately.

I may go for the 5700xt, it is actually priced quite well here. Would the MSI Rx5700XT Mech OC be a good choice? My 1070 was a reference card and I don't want to have another card with a blower style cooler because of the noise.

Yes the Mech OC would be fine. This is a review of the Mech OC below in case you are interested:

Well it solely depends on your budget but if you're looking for best value get the rx 5700xt that is if it is cheaper than an rtx 2070 super. The rx 5700xt has slightly better performance than the rtx 2070 super and is much cheaper at least where I live. Just don't get the refference design rx5700xt as they do have poor cooling, go for the after market ones.

I would recommend you purchase the Sapphire Nitro 5700XT. From what I have seen online, this one is the best out of all the 5700's.
