MSI ARMOR 480 4GB

hey all

Ive been using this gpu for almost a year now suddenly today while i was playing bf3 the fans went to 100% even though the temp was 65° c.

(I use a custom fan curve in msi to control the fan speeds)

And even after i finished playing the fan was stuck at 100

I shut it down and let it cool and restarted but still it was at 100

(And its noisy xd)

I tried everything i can :-

 Changing fan curves in afterburner

using wattman , speedfan, system restore but still the fans on my card are running at full speed.

what should i do ?

I have no idea what you can do honestly, but as far as your problem goes, it sounds like the sensor your fans rely on for reading the temperature might be broken.

Hmmn maybe..

So is letting the fans to run at full speed ok?

It will be noisy but if you can bear with it, not really an issue unless the fans at full speed still can't cool the card

It surely won't hurt your card to be cooled at maximum capacity at all times, but I wouldn't recommend it as it is presumably noisy AF and the fans are only rated for so many hours of use (never had a gpu fan die on me, but as Steve from Gamers Nexus always points out when those fans are easy to swap and provides partsnumbers I figure it happens)

There is one more thing I remembered you can check though:

See if the connections on your gpu are nice and snug. I had a (case)fan once turbo up to max randomly while all others stayed nice and calm. Tried to mess around with corsair software for an evening till it turned out that this particular fans plug somehow came a little loose on my fanhub what caused that behavior. Maybe it is an issue with your GPUs fans connections to their pcb. If not plugged in correctly from the factory I can imagine they could vibrate themselfs loose.

No the cards temps are normal a couple of degrees above room temp at idle and 70°c when playing bf4 ultra settings
