Ubuntu refuses to boot even after REINSTALL!

Hey there. I have my laptop dualbooted with Windows 10 alongside Ubuntu. Yesterday, I went AFK and the system went to sleep. When I returned, the computer refused to turn the monitors back on so I force powered it down. It then booted into emergency mode on Ubuntu. I tried fsck and it came up clean. Fastboot is disabled on Windows. I even reinstalled Ubuntu, and I still get the same results. I'm completely lost. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Is fastboot the same as secure boot ? I do not think so. Considering all the windows screwups here recently...... Might have to fix the bootloader with windows being windows in dual boot.

Fastboot is a feature in Windows that does not fully shut down drives. It commonly causes issues with dualboots.

Here is rule number one when troubleshooting issues......................

 

Go right to the source first............ hence     the Ubuntu website/community/forums

Did you find out what happened or what you needed to fix? 

 

If not, which version of Ubuntu and are you able to check the logs either in /var/log or journalctl (depending on Ubuntu version)?

I had a similar issue. It was a driver issue with my Nvidia GPU. The fix was to try out 19.10 (that was just released) as it includes the Nvidia driver in the install.
