Buying a smartphone overseas

Hello,

 

I am currently in the UK and going back to Israel in a few days and i want to buy my father a new smartphone (samsung note 10 {per his request}), but I have been unable to find concrete info as to if the mobile standards will work in Israel, seeing as how there have been cases of phones that were purchased overseas did not work back home.

Is it possible to buy a phone here and what should I watch out for when looking to buy a phone here?
