Should I limit my FPS to 60 for 60hz Monitor

Hello, i am thinking about downgrading my gaming rig as i do not game that much anymore. Therefore i would like to sell my 144hz 1440p screen and use only mine 60hz that i have for photo editing. My only worry would be screen tearing ( i know about vsync - but dont like the lag it cause for online gaming). Would better option be to limit fps through riva tuner to 60hz ? Would it prevent screen tear ? And what about lag ?( i am abroad so i have no option to try it now). thanks

Using a non-synced frame rate limiter (as well as just letting the game naturally score in that 50 - 70 fps range due to the graphics settings you picked) in my experience is the worst possible experience you can have.  It will give you the frame rate you ask for on average, but because it's not synchronized to the refresh, you will get tons of stutter and tearing.  If you want perfectly smooth animation, just use vsync, or if you can afford the performance, leave it off and just let it run at like 150+ fps (although if this was an option I assume you wouldn't be downgrading your monitor).  Yes there will be some extra input lag from it but you'll have to decide if that's worth it or not.  Try to minimize it by reducing maximum prerendered frames, if you have an nvidia card.  It used to default to 3 for some godforsaken reason.

Limit it to just below 60fps and enable Vsync.
