SSD and HDD not working together

Go to solution Solved by cafe,

my bad you should have used mini partition tool to change the disk to gpt before you installed windows to it

and i didnt know you could convert an already mbr partition without data loss

https://www.thewindowsclub.com/convert-mbr-to-gpt-disk

try this

thats my bad

EDIT: wait, i told you to convert it to gpt before you install it, did you not to that? like i told you to convert the drive AFTER you made a gpt bootable uefi windows installer, then install it

Hey everybody,

So I recently bought a new ssd (samsung 970 evo plus 250GB) and i've installed windows 10 on it. Now I have a problem; when I boot the system the ssd works as it should, all my other drives show up but I can't boot applications or games from it.

can someone please help me out ?

disk 3 is mbr

it needs to be gpt

if possible move everything off drive 3, format it, change it to gpt with that program and then reformat with ntfs and move your stuff back.

oh right that looks like your windows drive

might wanna just reinstall windows

and when you put windows iso on rufus, make sure a setting says gpt uefi or something, nothing mbr

If I had one wish, I would ask for a big enough ass for the whole world to kiss

like download the iso, dont make essentials or whatever write it for you, then just create a bootable usb with it with a program called rufus

I reinstalled windows like the way you said it, but it still doesn't work, I do get a other popup before I boot up.

well how about reinstalling them? idk

if you can move stuff and see them properly now, it should be fine

go to the steam exe and try to open it

since this is a new windows install though, its not installed from this install and therefore you need to install your programs through this windows install..

because the registry entries dont carry over

at this point you should move everything you need off the windows install thats on your HDD and then format it and then move stuff back into the blank drive

and reinstall the applications you need again, if i knew that you had a proper install on your HDD though I would have just told you to just move it all to the m.2 using the mini partition wizard but since you are here, might as well start with a free windows install lol

the normal programmes dont start up like, steam, discord, wallpaper engine or do i need to change some settings?

You can't just make a new install on an SSD, boot on it and then try to run programs that were installed on the old one. Need to reinstall everything to the new system.

All your documents you can have on the HDD, but programs need to be reinstalled. Steam library on the HDD can stay there and be linked to the new Steam install.
