Gigabyte RX580 fan rattle and advice

Go to solution Solved by jojothejoker,

rma the card... gigabyte has a 3 year warranty. did you getit second hand?

Hello,

Are you bored of people complaining about shitty gigabyte fans? Because I'm joining them in their choir, my rx580 started (I think, couldn't really notice it before properly) to rattle at fan speeds between the minimum 33%/~700rpm and 44%/1400rpm (I have a regular, dual fan cooler design w/fan stop feature, vid of the problem attached below). Did anyone come up with any fixes? Or should I rma it?

Edit: Also, the fan stops for a suspiciously long time when I stop it by hand, although I don't know how it should behave so it might be a false alarm.

I'm not sure how to help you with your original question, but I do know why your fan stops for a suspiciously long time when you jam a finger in it. PWM fans have the ability to detect spikes in voltage caused by an unmoving rotor. As a result, most firmwares will stop the fan outright, then after a specified waiting period, start the fan back up. It's nothing to worry about, really.

"Not breaking it or making it worse is key."

"Bad choices make good stories."

I have the same card with the same issue. It just started a couple of days ago. At first I thought it was a cable touching the fan but that is not what is happening. What did you end up doing to fix? I think I need to buy new fans but really do not want to as it is like 20 dollars. Please let me know if you were able to fix it. Any advice?
