I'm wanting to upgrade from a 1070, already noticing some bottlenecking issues, and I'm wondering how badly this combo would degrade performance. I'm ideally trying to get 1440p 144fps on high or max settings.

If it is a bottleneck, what cpu would you recommend to achieve maximum performance at a lower price?

Thanks for any responses.

since the 5700 XT is much more powerful than a 1070, your use case would see more bottlenecking.

if you can't find a sub $200 6700K or 7700K (which would be hard to find) then an upgrade to Ryzen is your best bet. What games do you play most?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

You'll also struggle to get 1440p 144 out of a 5700XT. For instance AC Odyssey runs at around 90FPS @ 1440p Ultra.

Main Rig:-

Ryzen 7 3800X | Asus ROG Strix X570-F Gaming | 16GB Team Group Dark Pro 3600Mhz | Corsair MP600 1TB PCIe Gen 4 | Sapphire 5700 XT Pulse | Corsair H115i Platinum | WD Black 1TB | WD Green 4TB | EVGA SuperNOVA G3 650W | Asus TUF GT501 | Samsung C27HG70 1440p 144hz HDR FreeSync 2 | Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS |

Server:-

Intel NUC running Server 2019 + Synology DSM218+ with 2 x 4TB Toshiba NAS Ready HDDs (RAID0)

Need a way better cpu and better card. Or turn settings way down on a decent card. Depends a lot on the game though.

Depends on the games.
I have a 6600k at 4.4ghz also. Went from a 1070 to a 2070s. Have a 1440p 144hz

mordhau, rainbow 6, csgo all run at 144hz.

im looking to upgrade to a 3700x though

You will definitely struggle to get 144 FPS with a 6600K. You can upgrade to a 6700K if you can find an affordable one, which should be good enough for a little while otherwise you'd have to get a new CPU and motherboard.

Yep. Have any ideas on cheap mobo/processor ryzen deals?

Lately I've been playing a lot of far cry 5 / new dawn, and things like rainbow, pubg, the crew 2, Forza horizon 4 etc.

Do you notice any bottlenecking? Are you getting the performance you'd expect out of your 2070s? And are those games all at max?

Far cry and R6S do pretty well with more cores/threads, and pubg is known for being pretty hard on the CPU

There is some bottlenecking I’m sure.
But I’m happy with my experience right now.

Waiting to change out motherboard cpu ram and everything. Not quite ready. Might wait for Ryzen 4000

i don’t think it would be worth going from a 6600k to a 6700k or 7700k.

sorry for the late response.
