BYK816 - Is used in the kogan mechanical keyboard $39 aud outemu red keyboard https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-full-rgb-mechanical-keyboard-red-switch/

I'm wondering if it has swappable switches, there is very little information online but if anyone could tell me the switches are switchable are not please tell me, according to the support at kogan it may require soldering.

As said above, it's like RGB, if it has it; it sure will mention it.

I can't imagine they woud add such a 'premium' feature on a basic board.

You woud probably have to desolder four points to remove the switch (two for the switch, two for the LED) and solder new switches in (+ resolder the LED in).

?

RGB LEDs are typically SMD mounted, and do not need to be removed to replace the switch. And for those that are through hole, wouldn't they require 4 pins?

Huh, TIL.

I seriously though they still used 2 pin LEDs, but that seems to be only the case with non-RGB LEDs! Thanks for correcting.
