Hi Guys n Gals,

I currently have 16gb of this ram, CMR16GX4M2C3466C16, in my Gigabyte Aorus gaming 3 motherboard and i'm looking at adding another 16gb more.

The problem is because its now "old" its more expensive to buy 16gb of the same ram i currently have than buying 32gb of ram that's not on my motherboards supported ram list , contacted gigabyte and they said they haven't checked the newer ram as corsair brings out so much ram.

The 2 sets of ram i'm looking at are :

CMW32GX4M4D3600C18

and

CMW32GX4M2C3200C16

Now i'll admit i still don't understand ram timings so am unable to think for myself which of the 2 sets would be better, it's something thats never really clicked with me, so i'm looking for pros and cons of the two ram sets.

Ideally i'd like the first set of the 2 for faster rated speed plus 4 rgbs sticks instead of two :)

all help appreciated.

Cheers.

If it isn’t on the QVL, does not mean it won’t work. Just means they didn’t bother testing.

Not it sure how old your system is, and to lazy to copy paste your tiny URL links. What CPU are u using

Higher clock speeds and lower Cas latency means better performance. Performance is roughly clock speed divided by Cas latency but higher clock speeds are generally better if supported.

Few sticks also usually means fewer problems.

Either will probably work fine.

  • 3 months later...

I realise this thread is "old" but i'm reviving it incase anyone googles/comes on the forum and has a similar question.

I went with the CMW32GX4M4D3600C18 ram (first link) and it works absolutely fine, just enabled xmp in the bios and its been plain sailing since.
