WD10JPLX 1TB

Vs.

ST1000LM015 1TB

I think that seagate is a older model, look for the newer barracuda branded drive.

What are you storing on this drive? Id get the cheaper of the two, the performance will be pretty simmilar. Id try to get 5400rpm for lower power and noise.

Where are you, a 1tb ssd for me is only like 30 bucks more and more than worth the extra

and was wondering which is the better option

WD Black:

32 MB Cashe

7200 RPM

Sgeate BarraCuda:

128 MB Cashe

5400 RPM

7200RPM >>>>>>>> 5400RPM all day every day. 5400RPM is fine for cold storage you don't access often, but otherwise I'd steer clear of it for your boot drive and any form of storage you access on a regular basis.

If you dont frequently do work and need the HDD for archive purpose then buy the WD Black HDD thats the best option but if you constantly access your drive and do multi-tasking work on the drive then get the higher cache ones. Since you already have a SSD better to buy the WD black but there are many option of HDD with 7200rpm cheaper.
