GPU upgrade; Ryzen 5 1600x, 1080p and soon 1440p.

Hi. Which mid-range GPU would you recommend?

By mid range I mean 1440p "able" (from 1660Ti or Vega 56 to RTX 2070S or RX 5700XT).

 

System, in short:

- Ryzen 5 1600X upgrading to Zen2 refresh next year (probably a 6C/12T or an 8C/16T)

- 16GB ddr4 3200 working on 2666 cause unstable XMP 3200 (since the few last Bios/Agesa updates)

- Gigabyte X470 Ultra Gaming

- 750W SAMA Armor Gold

- Sapphire Nitro 380X 4GB

- Fractal Define R5 

- 1080p 75Hz monitor, upgrading to a 1440p 144Hz monitor expected in a few months

- other parts unimportant for the GPU

 

Games: mainly competitive shooters but not the mainstream (bad games) like CS:GO, Fortnite, PUBG. Playing Battlefield and CoD:MW. And I like running benchmarks.

I change my GPU-s each 3-4 years, sometimes a few months earlier or later. Not a fanboy, but had more ATI/AMD cards in my lifetime.

 

I am considering the acceptable RX 5700/5700XT models and the RTX 2060 Super, but looking even at the cheaper cards.

FYI, an average RX 5700XT costs $550 USD here, the better ones $620. RTX 2060S cost $480-$500. Regular 5700 $460. RTX 2070 $590 to the 2070S 630+.

I'd rather not overspend. And I know the 1600X would bottleneck, especially on 1080p, but once a new monitor and a new CPU arrive...

the games arent that demanding, so a 5700 non xt shall do, and it should fade out ~4yrs, and you could get an upgrade.

get sapphire pulse if you can

the 1600x cpu bottleneck with 5700xt is extremely small, nothing to worry about

Looking at cheaper cards than the 5700/xt and 2060 Super? The answer..is..wait.

 

There is a rumored announcement of a 5500XT for October 7th, and also rumors of a 1650 Super and 1660 Super. All 3 of these GPU's have been seen in an EEC filing just yesterday, showing gigabyte models for all 3 of them. So I would wait until all these turn up, and then make your decision.

I believe you missunderstood. I'm not looking for a low end card (1080p gaming). A new GTX 1650 isn't that stronger than my R9 380X (which is a bit stronger than a GTX 1050ti).
