I have a need to run several machines with each being connected to its own separate Wifi connection. ( I have several mobile hot spots configured so each machines has a separate external Ip)

It occurred to me that I could run all these machine in their own Vm and then just have them all running on one large monitor,

Only trouble is I can not work out how to configure wireless access so each Vm has its own access to each of the Hot spots, I have little knowledge of Vms and networking and it would appear that I can not have ONE wifi usb adapter and use that one adapter for each of the vms, surely this doesnt mean I have to have loads of wifi adapters plugged in to the host to accommodate each of the Vms...does it .??

Any advice would be appreciated, I am running Oracle Virtual Box.

Cheers

Chris

It does.

Have you ever been able to connect one wifi adapter to multiple networks at the same time? nope...

Your right Kilrah, no I haven't, but I guess I was hoping that each Vm was treated separately, and therefore the adapter would be as well......but as Im typing this I beginning to realise the your answer is the obvious one.

So im guessing I will need a usb hub and lots of usb adapters !

The WIFI adapter itself probably only has one WIFI Radio inside. That means it can only physically connect to one SSID at a time. There's quite simply no way to do it.

The best way to do this would be to connect a WIFI adapter for each VM into the host, and then pass through the adapter directly to the VM, and then connect and configure the WIFI inside the VM itself.

If you have enough PCIe slots, PCIe adapters would probably best, since passing them through would be easier and more straight forward.

How many VM's/WIFI networks are we talking?

Is there a particular reason you are doing this over WiFi?  It seems a rather convoluted way of doing this.
