GTX 1080ti vs RX5700xt

Go to solution Solved by Princess Luna,

While the 1080 Ti is faster than the 5700 XT across the board it isn't by a very big maring at all and given it's second hand nature vs the brand new state of the 5700XT I'd personally consider the 5700XT, specially if gaming is your #1 priority.

About the "fine wine" that's no longer the case with Navi... GCN (older Vega/Polaris architecture cards) had architectural specifics that allowed for optimizations long past the initial game release but now Navi should already come with these optimizations out of the gate... this video explains it well:

So yeah, both cards are solid, the 1080 Ti is better and if you owned one already you'd not need to bother upgrading to anything for sure but on a purchasing today reality the 5700XT stands out.

Hi

I am looking to upgrade my personal rig( long over due).

I am looking at a used 1080ti ([ GTX1080 Ti AORUS Xtreme D5X 11GB)  for $662.22( local online retailer). http://item2.gmarket.co.kr/English/detailview/item.aspx?goodscode=1675091276

and the Gigabite Rx5700xt gaming oc D6. for $541.48 (at the same retailer) http://item2.gmarket.co.kr/English/detailview/item.aspx?goodscode=1661693185

From what I saw online... They perform pretty similar but the 1080ti is slightly better. also it has 11gb of vram. But the 5700xt is newer and I have read that amd cards are like wine and they get better with time( and it is newer).

my budget is max $700.

I am going to also looking upgrade my current MB and cpu to x470 max with the amd3600x

Thanks

Justin
