Hello, so I am currently in the process of moving my build to a new case. I also am going to replace my GTX 1080 with a 2070 Super. While looking at some videos, it said that its important that I uninstall my old GPU drivers before swapping my GPU.

Just want to know if it really is important and if I dont uninstall them first, if it will cause problems. I'm asking as I've already gone pretty far ahead of removing my parts and placing it in my new case and dont want the hassle of rebuilding it in my old case to uninstall drivers.

Will it be fine to not uninstall drivers until i boot on my new build then uninstall my old drivers to install them? If not, what about if i boot into safe mode then uninstall the drivers in my new build.

Going from Nvidia to Nvidia you'll be fine not uninstalling at all.

The drivers for a 1080 and a 2070 are the same, nothing to uninstall or reinstall.

Generally you don't need to uninstall drivers, windows will autoselect the best drivers.

Even when swapping different brand (amd to nvidia).

But if you have any problems, then the suggestion is DDU.

If not, don't waste your time.
