Do you think MSI will honor the warranty even if the void sticker is broken.

I have an MSI RX 480 (30 months old) that I was using as an eGPU for a while (it's not really used for gaming funnily enough, it's mainly just used to get 4 digital display outs (the laptop can only do 2 digital/1 analog.)) Yesterday I was sitting there watching YouTube when the PSU powering the card just shut off and after a bunch of testing the card has a short somewhere (0 resistance between 12V and ground on the PCIe power connector) and will shut off any PSU it's connected to, I tried cleaning out the card but it made no difference so I contacted MSI (because they have a 36 month warranty of GPUs) but I'm curious if they will still honor it with the void sticker damaged. (I know they aren't legal in the US anyway so I'll probably just bug them if they say they can't honor it because of the sticker, but they technically only have to offer a 1 year warranty in the US anyway so they could just say that.

Those warranty stickers are illegal in the United States so they have to accept it as long as you didnt cause the damage or issue with the GPU.

If you live in the USA, Warranty Void stickers are not enforceable, I think it is called the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act. You should be ok.

Ok, no I didn't. I opened it up to clean it after it stopped working, I also looked over it and don't see any physical damage to the card.

you should be fine with sending the card for an RMA, file a complaint with the FTC if they insist on not repairing the card because of the sticker.

Ok, do you know if their online RMA thing will send an email as confirmation, I haven't gotten anything (not even a 'your request has been received' email)

Edit: It's in spam, I checked Promotions and social but forgot about Spam!

i didn't have to RMA anything directly to MSI before so you'll need to ask someone else on this.

not long, like 24 hours. Just surprised there wasn't a confirmation email (but I found it in spam).
