Single Rank 4Gbit vs Dual Rank 2Gbit

Hi! What's easier for an IMC to run? 2Gbit Dual Rank or 4Gbit Single Rank. I'm looking forwoard to swap my ram because my current sticks are unmatched (same model but different revisions = different manufacturers). The CPU in question is an i7 2600K. I'm going to tweak it beyond XMP. That's why I'm interested on how hard it is for the IMC to handle it... It's gonna be a 4x4 config because a 2x8 looks worse with 2 slots unoccupied.
