For Church - Is The Quote A Good Build & Priced Fair?

Go to solution Solved by Mosquito AV,

Which presentation software are you using? Propresenter?

There is nothing I hate more than being overcharged for things I know little about. But eternally grateful for SMEs who look out....

I was quoted $2198 for the build and I want to see if it's fair. I am going to purchase an Origin case.

Thank you.

what will this be used for?

because that there is overcharging for most usecases and is pretty poor value regardless of how you look at it. (assuming around 200$ for having it pre-built)

The PC will be used to display lyrics overlaying HD video, video announcements, etc.

The PC then goes out to an HDMI to SDI converter>SDI distributor>6 TVs with SDI to HDMI conversion.

You dont need anything remotely as powerful as this. (This is also an incredibly poor value.)

Something like this would work just fine:

For what you plan on doing with it, that seems like way more computer than you need. If you need something that will play back HD video and output to HDMI, even a $600 Dell should be able to do that just fine. The only thing I guess I would wonder is if you're using a newer version of SDI. I don't know much about this interface but it looks like the newer ones can handle 4K@60hz video signals. 9th gen Intel stuff, which Dell is producing right now, should be able to do those tasks with the integrated video card. But, if you're going to be using anything more than PowerPoint type programs and video playback, you'll want something with discrete graphics.

This would be about the baseline you should go with for your use I'd imagine:

This would offer discrete graphics without a real significant jump in price. Keep in mind, you'd need one more adapter to go from the mini displayport to HDMI for your setup, but those are about $20.

Thank you everyone.

After reading additional forums, I see how essential it is to provide clear and concise intent of PC.

So I reached out to NXZT and Origin PC for quotes because of the following criteria:

1. Last build, we had a lot of issues with PC overheating. It was built by a volunteer and because most people don't understand how PCs work they assumed there was a build issue and resort to "we need an iMac"

2. Being Phoenix, the PC gets very HOT. My thoughts going water cooler (and I guess the type you never have to replace water) was to keep a quiet and cool unit. Our current PC is ridiculously loud.

3. Lastly, I just want to rely on experience of people who know what is actually needed. I can't purchase from retail big box because the value isn't the best for what you get.

I did state we have an HD SDI setup (no 4k yet), but I do want our church to grow into 4k so I want a PC that can meet our needs as we evolve into the 4k realm.

The primary software we use requires the following for an optimal setup:

Desktop Computer

thank you all!!!
