Looking to Build a 2006-07 Gaming Rig, Need Suggestions for Parts

I am planning on building a gaming rig from roughly 2006-07, and I'm on the lookout for some parts for it. Since I wasn't really into hardware back then, I don't know what parts existed, so does anyone maybe know what kind of parts I should look out for for such a build? To really go with that whole early 2000's feel I would also like to use SLI in the rig if possible, which I hear requires motherboards with some special Nvidia Chipset. Though it's fine without it if it turns out SLI for the thing will be hard to get or expensive. I've also heard there are many places where you could get such parts for free, does anyone maybe know of any?

You can pick up 8800GTX's and a Q6600 or Q9550 but I think that's 2009 ,not sure.

Motherboards have to say SLI capable, yes. Crossfire is more widely spreed through as it doesn't require the SLI necessarily certification. For AMD I think 4800 series is good for the time.

IIRC, that era was dominated by Athlon 64 chips. At that time I believe I had an Athlon 64 3700+ (San Diego) with 2x 7800 GT's in SLI (below) on an Abit A8N SLI nForce 4 board. I still have several Athlon 64 chips on hand, but I'd have to do an inventory if you're interested. I also still have several old PCI-Express vidoe cards: 7800 GT, 7900 GT, 7950 GT, 8800 GTS 640mb.
