Who makes the best SSD's

I'm building a new rig and was curious which manufacturer makes the best SSDs. I'm talking about read/write speeds,build quality, reliability

Most brands have decent drives. You can't really make the blanket statement of "this brand makes the best".

There's no perfect answer to this question, because this is a very subjective matter.

Alright I was just wondering because I could get a Samsung 970 Evo for 170 USD or a Western Digital WD Black NVME SSD for 160 USD they are both m.2 drives and nvme just wanted to see which would be more woth it

 

Edit: After looking at the specs of both the 970 EVO and the WD Black the black has slightly faster write speeds and they have the same read speeds so I think I'll go with the WD Black

If this is for general use, i.e OS + a few games etc...then you really aren't going to notice any difference. 

I have Samsung 850/860 EVO's, 970 EVO's, Crucial P1's, OCZ Vertex 4's, Intel 660p's, and i can tell you for general use theres no descernable difference between them. My NVMe's perform better when performing really heavy Disk IO like big 10-15GB game updates, but other than that i'd never notice. 

 

There is a lot more to it as far as SLC vs TLC/QLC drives and caching when it comes to storage systems like FreeNAS/UnRAID/etc...but for general desktop use this isnt really a consideration.

I would go with the Samsung simply because they have have a longer and better track record tha WD for SSDs.
