Two different NVME SSDs in RAID 1 (Mirror)

Hi, I have a 1TB Samsung PM961 NVMe SSD.  I believe it's the OEM version of the 960 Evo.   Is it safe to put it in a RAID 1 (mirror) it with a Sabrent 1TB Rocket NVMe.   It's only $109 on amazon and uses the Toshiba's 3D TLC NAND.   If this is not a good idea mirror will a Samsung EVO 970 be ok?   They are only $20 more than the PM961.   Also, the 960 EVOs are hard to come by.

I plan to use this drives to host multiple VMs for work and would like the extra protection.

Thanks!

David

Just back up your data regularly to a secondary drive, you really don't need to use RAID 1, the chances of an SSD randomly failing is pretty low as long as it's working when you got it out of the box.

RAID still isn't a proper back up anyways.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Ok, that makes sense.   Maybe I can make regular backup of the VMs on a schedule.
