updating b350 board for Ryzen3

so i want to update the BIOS on my Gigabyte ab350M-ds2 motherboard so i can get a Ryzen 3 chip, instead of buying a new board,

 but i am a bit confused by the information listed on their site https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-AB350M-DS2-rev-1x/support#support-dl-bios

so i need help to determine exactly what steps to take and in what order. The board is currently on F4 Bios.

from reading the info i think I can go straight from F4 to F31 , then install the EC FW update tool, then flash to F40,

I am unsure if i can go straight from F4 to F31 and skip all BIOS in between. I am also not sure if i can update to latest chipset driver first, then flash to F31,

or do i need to flash to an earlier BIOS first, update chipset driver , then flash to F31.

You won't really get a better Description then that from the link you posted. 
It tells you all you need to know and how to. Probably no one answering cause not many people use this board.

but surely there are plenty of people who had some manner of gigabyte b350 board that had to follow a similar path??
