Steam connection error after updating windows 10

two things i usually try if an app is blocked... disable firewall, or re-install the app

 

If other apps work fine, usually pinpoints the issue

If you updated just today, Steam is currently down. https://steamstat.us/

 

Edit: if you're unlucky like me, you'll get stuck with that rather than logging in as offline mode. I tried to log-out and back in rather than just dealing with offline mode until they fix it. so RIP us. It should be back soon.
