Does the system have onboard video? (Or an iGPU). Depending on past settings the onboard video can be set to be the primary video device which could cause the video card to not output a signal.

It doesn't have onboard graphics and not even a video port on the mobo IO.

Did you put it in the top-most PCI_e slot? Do the fans on it spin when you power on the system?

I tried both slots and the fan does spin on it.

If you get no video out from any ports on the card with different cables and slots, IE HDMI, DP etc.. then sounds like a bad video card to me.

The card is fine though, thinking it could be something more driver related as it's constantly failing to install the drivers for it for some reason.

how do you know the card is fine if you get no output from it? Just because fans are spinning doesnt mean anything.

If you know for a fact the video card is good what happens if you plug a different video card into these motherboard slots?

Yeah the whole system posts, boots, it's all fine.

Well, did you try disconnecting and reconnecting power to the GPU & PSU (if it's modular)? Perhaps one isn't quite in?

It's not modular and the card doesn't need any extra power.

What model is this video card? What motherboard are you connecting it to?

Quadro 2000 and an asus m5a97.

I don't have experience with Quadros. I don't know if there's anything special about them that makes them more or less finicky then there desktop counterparts.

Did you try all the ports on the card?

Yeah I have.

Sorry but I'm out of ideas. All I can guess that's left is an incompatibility of hardware. The platform doesn't support the quadro.

Is that really something that could happen, especially since the 2 are only 3 years apart and the card was previously properly detected on my main PC?

Ok so I figured out why it wasn't sending a signal and that seems to have to do with it just not supporting my 4k monitor, so I got a 1080 one and it displays fine, however I still can't install drivers for it.
