Hello,

I've made the mistake of re-installing my windows 10-edition without backing up some important data.

Now I'm looking for easy to use tools to recover data that was lost when removing/recreating the partitions during the new OS installation.

I've tried a few tools included in Hirens Boot CD (LazeSoft, Puran, Recuva, GetDataBack) but nothing seams to be able to find any files from the old partitions.

The new data/partitions only use about 20% of the physical disk (SSD) , so at least some of the old data shouldn't have been overwritten(?)

Please, could anyone point me in the right direction, or is this a lost cause?

Did you do a deep scan?

Depending on the size of the disk it can take hours and have a secondary disk to put the recovered files on.

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

Yes, I've tried all different scan methods available in the mentioned recovery apps, including deep scan.

Try O&O Disk Recovery : https://www.oo-software.com/en/products/oodiskrecovery/comparison#details

If the trial version works for you, there are places where you can find a licensed copy (or pm me and i may be able to help you out)

It can do sector scan and recover files based on that and it may be able to find the old ntfs records somewhere in the empty space and recover data that way.
