So I built my PC a while back, right now I have 4690k and of course DDR3 RAM. When I build it, DDR4 had just come out, and 1000 series were impossible to get a hold of. I eventually got my hands on 1070 after years of my placeholder 750ti.

But with the next gen consoles around the corner, I have no doubt that PC games/ console ports will take advantage of newer hardware. I am fine lowering settings to conform to my GPU. But what I'm worried about is my 4690k, and to a lesser extent, my RAM. Right now I have used my MOBO's built in overclock for a modest over clock and games run fine.

Will my CPU be able to handle the next gen of games? Or is time to upgrade?

Thanks ahead of time :)

Look at upgrading soon, quad cores without smt already have a rough time with many new games and it will only get worse.

the 4790k is relevant as long as you are getting satisfactory performance in games. I would honestly still be using my 4790K now and for a while to come if I didn't get my 8086K

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

4790k is a different situation than the 4690k, imo.

If I got the 4770k/4790k instead of that 4570 in my sig I would still be using it too.

Oh typo. Still I mean it, the 4690K is as good as it's perceived to be

It is relevant as long as you are happy with your FPS. Now if you sold the cpu/mobo/ram... you could probably get most of what you need for a 3600 and motherboard... then you just need ram and you are doing much better.
