I/O issue happens every few days

Bought a new Western Digital Black 6TB hard drive. The hard drive initializes fine and works correctly but a few days down the line and it seems to de-initialize, claiming an I/O issue. I've swapped sata ports and cables but anything that fixes the problem just gives me another few days of a working drive. I've already returned and bought an exact same hard drive but the issue still persists.
