First seen on Reddit here:

"Amazon, Microcenter, and Newegg have all raised the price to about $569. I wonder if AMD has actually raised the price and this is  new MSRP. AMD would never advertise that though.

By the way it’s in stock right now on amazon. (7:15 PDT)"

Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=3900x&ref=bnavm_hdr_search

Microcenter: https://www.microcenter.com/product/608316/ryzen-9-3900x-38ghz-12-core-am4-boxed-processor-with-wraith-prism-cooler

Newegg Business: https://www.neweggbusiness.com/product/product.aspx?item=9b-19-113-103

It appears that due to the demand of this chip and the limited supply, retailers realized that these chips will sell instantly so another $70 can be had per chip. I'm curious if AMD actually silently raised their prices because for every retailer (except BestBuy) to raise it at the same time and by the same amount seems fishy.

A reminder that MSRP stands for Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price.

It's still listed at $499 at Best Buy. Probably just retailers and wholesalers profiting off the shortage.

and since microcenter price matches you can still get it for 499 if you show them the best buy ad.

Not entirely sure why? I actually felt this was breaking news that the price went up.

That would be like making a topic when GPUs aren't sold at MSRP.... which is all the time.

That's the retailer increasing the price, not AMD and it happens every day.

Firstly, There have been availability issues with the 3900x since late august, but it's affecting markets differently in terms of supply and price. It's basic supply/Demand stuff, similar to what happened with GPU's during the Cryptocurrency boom.

Secondly, TSMC officially announced longer lead times in Mid September, and AMD made a statement that :

Lastly, AMD has not announced an official MSRP change, and to my best of my knowledge, no tech company has ever announced updated MSRP's that went up from launch prices (though I could very easily be wrong about that) so we cannot speculate on that and call it news (It's a rumor at best).

(At least the OP meets minimum tech news posting guidelines, though I'd be hard pressed to call Reddit a News source in most cases)
