For gaming: 2560x1080 vs 2560x1440

Hi!

I'm about to buy a gaming monitor in the next couple of days, and I can't decide between these two resolutions (2560x1080 vs. 2560x1440). I have my eyes set on these two monitors:

MSI Optix MAG271CQR: https://www.msi.com/Monitor/Optix-MAG271CQR/Specification Which is 1440p, 144hz, 1ms MPRT response time, Freesync. With 400 nits of brightness

or

LG 34UC79G-B: https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-34UC79G-B-ultrawide-monitor Which is UWFHD, 144hz, 1ms motion blur reduction (I don't know the difference between that, MPRT and GtG, to be honest), and also Freesync. But the brightness is only 250 nits.

I mainly play League of Legends and World of Warcraft (casually, I'm not a pro player). But also enjoy games like Borderlands, Gears of War, Assassin's Creed, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, etc. Also, I do typical productivity work, like MS Word, PowerPoint, the usual stuff, nothing to do with content creation or anything else.

For those of you who have the knowledge and experience with these types of displays, which one would suit me best? Where I live, I don't have the option to go to a store and see it for myself before buying, so I'm relying on external opinions.

OH, BTW, IMPORTANT NOTE: I can get both of them for the same price (450 USD).

Thanks in advance! :D

I own the smaller brother of that LG monitor, the 34UM69G, 2560 x 1080 75hz for my build. I have heard people say that 2560 x 1080 looks fuzzy and pixelated at 34 inches. But I see nothing of the sort, so I wouldn't listen to them. You'll only probably see that if you're coming down in resolution from a 4k monitor or something.

I should just mention that the LG monitor will have better colors as it is an IPS panel whereas the MSI one has VA, which is a middle ground between the bad colors of TN panels and the best colors of IPS.

I should say that as someone like you who primarily plays MOBA's and Singleplayer titles, the extra FOV you'll get is well-worth it. It provides a totally different experience that you won't be able to go back from. The 1440p panel won't have that experience, but it will have better clarity and detail because there are more pixels, and packed into a smaller space.

So it's up to you to which you prefer. I personally would go for the LG panel, but that's because I use an ultrawide panel myself and have experience with the same panel pretty much as what you are considering (bar the refresh rate).

I should also mention that motion blur reduction is total garbage, so I'd ignore that. It reduces latency but it creates this horrible flickering, darkens the screen, and gives me a headache. You can turn it on and off, so don't worry about that.
