Replacing a gtx 1080 with rtx 2070 super: founders edition ?

Hi all,

I'm pondering replacing my Gigabyte gtx 1080 windforce oc with an rtx 2070 super

I have a z390 9600k on a 3440x1440 21:9 100Hz gsync display (mostly playing PUBG).

Where I live I can now find the 2070s FE for a decent price.

How does it rate with respect to similarly priced custom cards ?

Max.

Well from what I have heard and watched, FE cards tend to heat up more than custom cards. I personally would go for a non FE card as they perform better in thermals as well as performance wise(not all though). But hey if its cheap and performs almost identical I would go for the cheaper option.

Given the card you were running I wouldn’t worry about how the next one runs.

I prefer the look of nvidia coolers so I take them over anything.

Only comparisons I’ve seen are stock profiles and/or open bench. Which are kinda dumb to hope it would run the same in real world unless your build falls into a category of testing.

Also like that the blocks are cheaper as well as getting ahold of another cooler if I have an issue or wonna mod it.

It is not an upgrade.

Frame rate would be about the same.

A good upgrade would be 1080 ti/2080 Super.

If you are not planning to water cool a 3 fan custom card would be better.

To give you an idea how much better, my EVGA XC 2080 ti(reference PCB/2 fan) runs 10c hotter than my EVGA FTW3 Ultra(custom PCB/3 fan) stock.
