Asus PG278Q monitor - OSD and random shutoffs

I have 3 of these monitors and one of them had its OSD controls break a long time ago (none of the buttons work) but lately I've been having new issues:

 

  • the OSD will randomly trigger and it appears buttons get spammed (?).
  • sometimes stays in powered on standby mode when sleeping pc
  • sometimes stays black when waking pc
  • sometimes turns off in use

clearly its fault - what is interesting is that unplugging it and plugging it back in fixes it for a period of time. Essentially I am wondering if there may be a solution that doesnt involve me shipping this thing somewhere or buying a whole new monitor.

 

I also pried it open and checked the cables for the controls and it appeared to be fine but that doesnt really say much, any ideas?
