Good evening,

I am having a particularly difficult time looking for a mechanical keyboard that suits my needs and am looking for suggestions.

I have one of those adjustable standing desks that have multiple levels: One for Monitors and another for the keyboard/mouse. Therefore, I'm limited in keyboard length by quite a bit. About 15", at best, if I'm to have a mouse. This pretty much limits me to TKL (80%) keyboards, which I don't mind as I hardly ever use the numpad anyway.

The way the desk is set up makes cable management interesting for anything on the keyboard level, which isn't a problem for many mice but finding a wireless mechanical keyboard that suits me seems to be exceedingly difficult. I am nearly to the point of simply buying a cheap wireless membrane keyboard and screwing it all.

Here are some things that I'd really like to have:

  • MX Brown's or equivalent
  • Media Keys. Dedicated preferably but not required.
  • Backlight. I wouldn't pay more for RGB but if it's there you won't hear any complaints from me if it has it.
  • Optional: A wired option for better performance/charging/whatever.

Naturally, I also would like good build quality, keycaps, and fonts. But I figured that would be a given. I do need things like the function keys as I am a programmer.

Well, technically, another option is to get a keyboard with a detachable cable and simply purchase a really long cable as a replacement for the likely-too-short cable that it comes with. In the case that wireless simply isn't possible I will be exploring this route.

Any suggestions or direction would be a great help, thank you!

Thanks for the suggestion! Unfortunately, I need the function keys and 60% keyboards a little bit too compact for me

There are all kinds of links on that site, dig around, if they don't have it, it probably doesn't exist...

Wireless and TKL. Unfortunately, it uses Cherry MX switches, and you will have to desolder them in order to replace them with decent ones. You'll also have to replace the keycaps. Try to look for double shot PBT keycaps. The same store has some options for keycaps.

If you're fine with a 60%, the Anne Pro 2 is available with Kailh Box swithces and comes with doubleshot ABS keycaps. It supports Bluetooth.

You can find some good keyboards there, but most aren't wireless. Also check Drop.com, their Alt and Ctrl keyboards also aren't wireless, but fine otherwise.

It depends honestly if u wanna go full custom then look into the mech keyboard subreddit. But if u want a decent mech board I'd just get the CoolerMaster Master Keys PRO RGB S.

If u want a response then YOU'D best Quote me so I can see it.

Shouldn't have to say this but the few ruin it for them all......

A 60% will still have all the functionality, including F keys, they are just on a layer. So you would do something like hit an Fn key + a number key.  There is also 75% which is like a 60% but also has a physical F row.
