I am planning to buy a Ryzen 2600 with B450 DS3H. I wanted this system for office use (my requirements are not gaming) and in mid range. Now I have a few doubts

  1. Do I need to buy a additional graphic card for this combination for non gaming use?
  2. If I can extend my budget a little, would you suggest me another motherboard? or another motherboard in the same range? A  few suggested me  MSI B450M PRO-VDH Plus.
  3. Out of many RAM options, which RAM will support this motherboard? And how can I get this information from motherboard details? B450 DS3H board link

Thank you

yes you need a discrete GPU, only ryzen CPUs with iGPU are the g suffix ones

another mobo? you would be fine with that, but msi tomahawk is decent

swap for B450 Pro4

that CPU does not have integrated graphics, so yes you will need a GPU of sorts for non-gaming use.

you can check on the QVL, but you can expect almost any Ramstick to work up to their rated speed. providing their rated speed is at or below 3200mhz. (exception is when running like 64GB of Ram)

yes, the 2600 doesn't have an onboard gpu

MSI B450M PRO-VDH Plus.

not a huge difference, especially if what you're doing is office work

thanks @Gegger, are there motherboards which have inbuilt graphic cards? so that I do not have to buy an GPU

that would be from a long time ago, so no

Get 2400G then. Motherboards do not have IGP since ages. Either go for Intel, if you are after a six-core cpu with IGP, or get 2400G (4c8t)

Life is really challenging. I don't always suceed: )

I aggree and i am just adding a note to your answer: all DDR4 memories are actually Overclocked at speeds higher than 2133mhz so look at the specifications of the motherboard and look for 3200(if it has OC) next to it then buy a memory DDR4 module that is less than 3200mhz for no problems at all.

i recall some asrock rack ones do, but those come at like 200+ dollars. I'd just get a gt210 or something along those lines

yes, but it hasnt been called overclocking for ages as its XMP/DOCP. it either sets it at boot or it will be a switch in the BIOS.

um, unless its in the QVL, then its not guaranteed to work, but at this point. 3200mhz isnt fast memmory. anymore. and Zen+ top out at around 3466mhz-3600mhz in capable speeds due to the IMC, not the memmory controller.  motherboard.

the thing they write next to their motherboard that isnt in the QVL that is marked with OC is just marketing

when reffering to overclocking memmory its usually manually overclocking with timings, subtimings speed, or with Zen 2, tuning IF clock.

i know Serverboards do. but they cost more than your CPU and mobo combined for just the board.

only thing i would do it just avoid the ds3h. there are other options that are better around the same price, and the ds3h isnt exactly the most reliable thing if my (biased) issue counting is accurate. it might only be me.

it's the same vrm as half of the gigabyte's lineup, just with worse heatsinks. only reason I'd change it would be if something like a pro4 is cheaper

the VRM is fine, heatsink is "eh". thats not why i avoid suggesting it. its just the board that shows up the most often when there are troubleshooting issues.

Dear all: thank you for the insight. I have realized that either I should get a GPU or should prefer another processor, one with suffix "G".

Do you have suggestions for a mobo-GPU combo OR processor-mobo-GPU combo for a mid range system?

good enough for a 2600 really

it really is. its why i qualitfy it as "eh". which means its okay, but could be better. it is a heatsink at least, which is more effort than some put into it.
