Hi.

I'm looking for a successor for my Phenom II X4 955 BE. It is mounted on Gigabyte GA 870a UD3 with 16GB RAM DDR3. After short research I suggest MSI B450M Gaming Plus with Ryzen 5 1500x. RAM ofcourse will be replaced on DDR4. What do you think about it? I know, it will be not so fast, but I think it is high time to replace motherboard with cpu before buying new gpu.

Regards, Marcin.

What’s your budget ? 2600+ B450 tomahawk would be solid choice.

if you get the MAX version of that board you’ll be ready to upgrade cpu to a 3xxx or 4xxx sku in a few years without having to upgrade your board again. (Non max also compatible but needs bios update and has smaller ram for bios.)

What are you trying to do with the system?  That's an important consideration in what CPU to get.  Do you want to play the latest AAA games with a powerful GPU to match?  Are you doing web browsing and word processing?

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Good question, but mostly web dev and some time I want to play few games like Witcher 3, HL2. Arkham series. Seriously, I will not catching every frames. I'm not game geek :)

I want to change whole platform, because I think the old one will be a great botlneck for newest gpu's. In the nearest future I want to buy for example 1060 - 1080 or AMD equivalent.

Yeah the old platform is definitely dead, and if you're looking for something to work long term, AMD is doing that well with AM4.  You could get a 3600 now and upgrade to something far more powerful in a few years if you need it, or just keep it for the next 10 again xD

I know, I know, but my budget is limited. So I want to start with 1500x or 1600 and after few months it will replaced by more powerful cpu.

Those are also good and should be pretty cheap by now so that's an option if they're enough.
