PC wont boot after CPU upgrade except when using 2 specific slots

So I had a i5 3570 and "upgraded" for a 3570k, just for the overclocking, at first it booted ok, a few reboots as I was expecting, but it became stable, then the next day it didn't boot, and after many tries, it booted and became stable again, third day didn't boot at all, so I started troubleshooting and find out it would boot just fine when the ram sticks were in the b1 and b2 slots, which are in different channels, I already removed the CPU and put it back several times, and all the slots worked fine with my 3570 non-K, but also keep in mind this 3570K was in the guy's rig until I take it, and his mb only has 2 slots...

I checked for that, and everything seems ok, but I have noticed that a couple pins had some thing beneath them, looked like dust infused with thermal compound, any idea how I could tackle this?
