Should I buy games or upgrade with $50?

Retro_R

I bought some pc parts recently and got some rebates adding up to about $50. The problem is I don't know what to do with it and it's about to expire. I don't know if I should buy games or put the $50 towards upgrading. I have a 1080p 144hz monitor, with a 3800x and 1660ti, If I wanted to go to a 1440p 144hz monitor with a 5700xt (to back that up) it would cost about $720 (cheap monitor with features I want, and aib 5700xt) and I would still be about $670 with the rebates also I basically just got my 1080p 144hz monitor. So I don't know what to do, so could you guys help me decide? What should I do?

Also if this was supposted to go into off topic or something im sorry

Grab a game, unless you don’t have an SSD. Then definitely get one

Well, if you just got the parts you should use them and see if you like what you have

Get some games and see if your GPU can play those games at 1080p 144hz. Games like PUBG, R6, LOL, and CSGO tend to have high fps (esports titles), but if you play games that are AAA titles, you might not get the performance you want. In that case, then look towards an upgrade!

I already have an ssd, plus a 1tb hdd, I felt like it was a good balance.

I got these parts over the summer (around May) I've been using them a lot over the summer mostly playing CS:GO surf and GTA 5, I have winded down since school but i'm looking at the untitled goose game which looks kinda fun and im realizing now that it isn't a very intense game. I don't run a lot of current AAA games at the moment. Yeah I can run 1080p 144hz ok. I've been trying to tell myself to hold off but now theres a deadline. But thanks for the advice!

I'm curious why the 3800X to be honest.  Do you make money off computer work?

I would have looked into a 3600 and B450 leaving enough for a GPU or monitor upgrade maybe.

Save up for the 1440p and GPU, you should greatly enjoy the larger screen and better reso.

Np, what's done is done.  Saving up is a good idea if you truly want 1440p.

Otherwise enjoy 1080p and game it up.

How much ram do you have? it's an easy and cheap upgrade and it helps in a lot of programs, you might have to add some extra money though

Yeah not really worth to upgrade then, no real need for it. Get some nice game :)

Custom cables, LEDs, another HDD, case fans, keyboard, mouse, headset, earphones, microphone, all those can probably fit within the $50 budget.

My Psu isn't really modular so i can't really do custom cables, I already have rgb fans, theres bassicly only one good upgrade for my 1tb hdd, and I don't think I'll need to upgrade that very soon anyway. I have a decent mechanical keyboard, and mouse, my headset works, my mic is lacking but decent. I dont think you could even get all of those for just $50 anyway
