Do I need a better CPU cooler

Chiyawa

Hi,

Just wondering which air cooler should I get for my CPU.

My current CPU is Ryzen 3600 using stock cooler. I'm looking for a cooler that could sustain the heat generated from the processor while rendering video at very long time. So far my CPU hit 85c while stress test and the speed stays constant at around 3.8GHz.

My CPU case is Thermaltake Versa H26, which according to manual, the maximum cooler height is 160mm.

Anyway, did I set my cooler properly? I get a reading that the temperature rise instantly from 50c to 74c when I began stress test and drop instantly from 85c to 50c once I stop. Is this normal? Also, my CPU idling temperature is around 45c to 50c, while my room temperature is 33c (reading taken from a digital thermometer) at the time of recording.

P.S.: All readings were taken from Ryzen Master software.

I apologies if my comments or post offends you in any way, or if my rage got a little too far. I'll try my best to make my post as non-offensive as much as possible.

It's normal, CPUs instantly draw more power when they need it so instant increases and decreases of temperature are normal there is no grace period of it slowly increasing(there are factors that can cause this like water cooling takes longer to reach equilibrium so temps will slowly increase for a time but generally this isn't the case), and if you aren't overclocking you will be fine with the stock cooler. So it just comes down to if you're ok with these temps, If not then go for one, if you're fine then don't worry about it. :)

I would recommend the Snowman CPU cooler from AliExpress, the dual fan version with more heatpipes (you choose the regular or RGB).

The stock cooler with the 3600 is loud and hot. Any 20-30€ aftermarket tower cooler will be quieter and cooler.

Hmm... So it is normal for the temps to behave this way? I see.

About overclocking... I'm not sure if this is the motherboard setting, but there are a few times I noted my CPU run at the speed of 4.2GHz. I didn't set anything (usually leave everything auto in the BIOS except RAM, which I'm using XMP Profile.

I don't mind the noise, but somehow, it's not that audible at all while running at full speed. I do believe the heatsink is a bit small.

id put it under audible, but not obnoxious. good enough for the CPU, not for overclocking.

while my room temperature is 33c

if thats the ambient temp, then your temps are pretty good actually.

if you want to enable PBO and get some extra from the CPU, id look at an aftermarket towercooler in the 30$+ range.

arctic freezer 34 eports one/duo is a good option. or the scythe Mugen rev B.

the wraith stealth cooler?

i mean temps arent exactly low on it. i guess it comes down to the case and how the percieved sound pitch is.
