Hello!

I recently bought my first computer that i built myself. Parts:

Ryzen 5 3600X

RTX 2060

Asus B450-F

HyperX 2666Mhz 2x8GB

The package first contained a Kingston A2000 250GB NVME SSD but after a couple of days i realized i needed more storage. The motherboard has two M.2 slots so i figured id just buy a Kingston A2000 1TB NVME SSD.

It arrived today and i figured i would just put it in the supposedly supported M.2_2 slot and it would just be plug and play. But it was not.

At first i couldnt find the new SSD in windows or BIOS. Then i tried swapping places, now i couldnt boot windows but the computer found the new 1TB ssd. So i played around with the configurations and it seems that the M.2_2 slot isnt active at all. I cant find anything about this online and ive looked all over BIOS and i cant find anything that works.

I found out afterwards about the PCIE_1 slot being limited to x8 when using the M.2_2 slot, but according to tests i found online the difference betwen x8 and x16 seems to be about 0,5-2 FPS with a GTX 1080 so that shouldnt be too much of a problem.

Are there any pros on here that knows a solution for me?

Thanks in advance.

It’s hard to say without the motherboard, but I would say make sure the drive is properly formatted and then check if it shows up in bios when you plug it in the main slot that you know works. Also check your mobo manual to see if you need to enable anything in the bios.
