to those who have updated to android 10, what do you think about the new gesture navigation?

currently im using old school pixel non-xl and i probably wont update it any time soon. it's my only phone and i dont have the budget to blow on another device.

for me, one of the biggest attraction of android is the navigation bar. when the screen is off, everything disappears, only a pane of glass. beautiful.

unlike apple's ugly physical home button of old, it just cant imagine why such a ugly thing lasted 9 generation of devices.

however i think the apple-styled gesture thing is a bit slow, and for me i regularly operate my device with gloves, i cant see how that is more effective than the old fashioned 3 button scheme since honeycomb.

the old gesture nav thing that came in 8.1 or so, is just stupid.

i can see the advantage of having bigger screen area, and it's still the biggest downside.

however for me, a heavy text reader, i dont mind the screen space tax. and i think most video apps auto hide nav bar too. i dont play mobile games, i dont think they are real games.

why everybody post the spec of their rig here? i dont! cuz its made of mashed potatoes!

At first I hated it but I forced myself to give it a week and now I much prefer it to the 3 button system, in fact I hate going back to Pie on my tablet.

Fyi you can enable the old 3 button system if you want to.

Disliked it immensely. Went back to the three button style and never looked back.

Needed a day or 2 of getting used to on iOS and now it's weird hadnling any phone that requires physical keys below. Or even virtual ones on screen.

These answers feel a little like Stockholm Syndrome ;)

Not really. The gesture system is really fluid on iOS. I don't know how it feels on Android, but I prefer it over old buttons. Probably would even on Android if it's done the same as on iOS. Or at least in a very similar way.

Nah, it's about giving yourself time to get used to the changes. I can navigate my phone much faster than my tablet because the gestures are quicker and easier once you learn them all.
