I need to download some videos and watch it on my road trip. 

YouTube-DL & job's done. Works cross platform, and is updated daily, sometimes multiple times a day. Bear in mind you are only legally allowed to download videos you have a license for, so anything that you didn't upload to YouTube yourself or that you don't have permission from the owner to download should be left alone, and not stored anywhere outside of the YouTube platform as per their Terms of Service.

4KDownloader has always worked alright for... Downloading videos of my own from YouTube 9_9 Does have quite a few ads though and only allows playlist downloading in the premium version.

Oooooof course you shall use YouTube Premium for downloading any other people's videos.. ;)

Downloading videos from YouTube without creators permission is still against YouTubes ToS. You can pay for Red/Music if you want that functionality.
