Hi all,

I've been trying to save up to build myself a new rig for a few years now, but I've always had some unexpected stuff to spend money on like my car breaking down and such. Also, I only got more familiar with PC gaming hardware since I discovered the Linus Media Group Youtube channels around December last year.

So now I'm gearing up to buy all the parts I need for my upgrade at the end of November (Black Friday is the 29th). I was wondering though, Black Friday has really started to become a thing here in Belgium (although still not nearly as huge as in America), but I don't know if Cyber Monday is also gaining popularity. So I was wondering if there are any people here from Belgium / The Netherlands / Germany who can offer some advice if I should buy on Black Friday, or wait for Cyber Monday instead. I don't want to risk waiting and missing out on better deals because Cyber Monday hasn't kicked off yet over here.

I will buy most of my stuff on amazon.de (there is no Amazon in Belgium) but I'll keep an eye on other sites as well to see if there are better deals elsewhere. Currently I have the following parts in mind, feel free to suggest improvements but my budget will be quite strict (I'm open to similar parts if the prices for my choices aren't dropping very much though).

Spoiler

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600

CPU cooling: used Corsair H75 - already have this from a friend of mine

MB: Aorus B450 PRO or MSI B450 Tomahawk (unless the new X570 boards have a crazy price drop)

Memory: Corsair Vengeance DDR4-3000 (maybe going for used as well here)

GPU: used Gigabyte GTX 1080 Turbo OC - also have this from my friend already

Case: not too picky, something in the lines of a Be Quiet! Silent Base 601 Window Kit

PSU: Corsair RM650X

Storage: M.2 NVMe SSD 512GB or 1TB, probably Samsung

My current rig is in desperate need of an upgrade (I'll also be submitting an entry for the ROG Rig Reboot but don't want to put too much hope in that).

Any advice will be appreciated!

You need an MSI B450 board with USB bios flashing to use a Ryzen 3000 CPU in them.

Otherwise an R5 2600 might be $80 less and would be fine

You should get a case with a mesh front though, anything that actually has airflow like a Coolermaster MB511 or Fractal Focus G.

Just get a 660p for the SSD it should be pretty cheap and it has a decently large cache size.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Thanks, I'll keep those in mind. Won't an Aorus board work too after bios update?
