PC powers on but doesn't post, probably because of cpu. what can i do?

Hello,

i've run in to the following problem: my pc, which ran without any problems up until now, wont post anymore after i removed & reinstalled the gpu to install an nvme ssd (of course while i was grounded and the pc was unplugged). Now when i try to press the power button, the rgb lighting starts glowing and the fans ramp up to what sounds like max speed, but it doesn't post, the monitor just stays on standby mode. The only hint i've got of what's going on is the "cpu" light on my motherboard that's constantly on, according to the manuel, that either means it can't detect the cpu or it's defective. Another reason why i think the cpu is the culprit here, is that the fans normally speed up for a short time when turning the pc on, and then slow down again. I thought this might be controlled by the motherboard, and when the cpu "takes over", the fans go to their normal speeds, so maybe it's stuck right where the cpu is supposed to "take over", and that's why the fans don't slow down? That could be utter nonsens though, pease don't be too harsh on me, i'm not a hardware technician ;).

So i tried reinstalling the cpu, running the pc with only one ram stick in dimma2 and resetting the bios, but none of these worked. I also treid booting it withot the gpu. Since i'm running a ryzen cpu, it of course wont post without a gpu, but it should boot normaly, right? But the fans stayed at max speed again, so i guess the problem isn't the gpu. Or is there a possibility that it is, and the motherboard shows a wrong error code? With a little bit of luck, i can test it in another system tomorrow.

So do you see any possibility to fix this without sending back the cpu (+ motherboard?)?

That's my hardware:

Ryzen 7 3700X

MSI gaming pro carbon wifi (x570 chipset)

bequiet dark rock pro 4

G skill ripjaws V 3200mhz

bequiet straight power 11 750w

thanks in advance for your help!

MSI motherboards have a habit of sending out a CPU error when the ram is actually at fault.

Also try turning it off and on again, ther have been some problems in general with X570 systems that work one moment and don't the next

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B
