Ryzen 3600 940 Cinebench 20 score? HELP!

Hello Guys,

I'm hoping you can help me. I've built a new pc and for some reason the Ryzen 3600 keeps underclocking it's self to 0.54 ghz and even when it doesn't performance is bad? Temps are fine when its running at normal speed, I also noticed when at normal speed it doesn't go above 4.0xghz. CPU normaly sits under 60c at max load - all cores are loading in a prime stress test

I seem to be getting a few minutes at normal speed then the clock speed drops to 0.54 and stays there - but this isn't consistent it can be at any time randomly, even when not at load, I don't have game boost or any other OC running, I have tried everything I can think of, is the CPU faulty?

When I first booted I launched Cinebench and a score over 3k, now when I run it even if the cpu does stay at normal speed in getting 800? I cant think of what Ihave changed since then. I ran the latest BIOS from the start

Ryzen 3600 stock cooler
16gb 3200 Corshair vengence
RX 5700 xt Evoke
MSI b450 Gaming plus max with latest bios - even dropped back to previous bios, no help
650w Corshair VS

The only way to get the clock speed back is to restart but then after a few minutes it drops again. I disabled XMP just incase.

I would appreciate your help, I'm really bummed out I've been looking forward to gaming! I'm about the do a complete fresh install to see if that helps, if it doesn't I can only guess I have a problem with my PSU, Mobo or CPU its self?

Are you talking about it downclocking at idle? That's normal. It's meant to save power and lower heat output.

Use Ryzen Master to track the CPU better.

Also, is the power supply getting warm? The VS are garbage and become unstable in a hot environment.

Start > Type Control Panel > Click Control Panel > Power Options

What plan is selected?

Also did you manually download and install the latest version of AMDs Chipset Driver?

Power supply isn't getting hot and I'm in the UK it's cold here ha

Isn't just at idle, I just booted in and the cpu is locked at 0.54 putting load on the system does nothing. I'm running prime and the cou is sat at 0.54ghz 15percent utilisation.

I'm going to do a full fresh install and report back

You updated the BIOS via the bios utility, not windows right?

  • Update:

After a full reinstall I don't have the issue where the speed drops to 0.45GHZ anymore but Cinebench is still only scoring 937, I know my R5 3600 should be over 3k.

All cores are maxed in the test

All cores are getting good voltage

CPU temp isn't going over 57 (which is worrying because I know it should be higher with a stock cooler.

I'm guessing either the CPU is damaged or the motherboard is? Could bad ram have anything to do with this? I know I'm going to have to return something I just need to work out what

Really appreciate any help!

Hi guys,

Pulled everything out of the case and get it back on top of the mobo box with the anti static bag.

Hasn't helped, cinebench is still only getting 900 ish score - should be way into the 3000's. At this point im thinking it isn't software related but I don't know how to determine if it's a damaged CPU/Mobo/PSU - Im going to Prime a new PSU and test that. Power setting is AMD high performance.

THe GFX card is fine temp wise from what I can tell. Cinebench doesn't even get it hot enough to spin up the fans and the ram temps are in the 50's

Temps are all fine when running Cinebench and stress tests on both Mobo and CPU - But the CPU is pulling low wattage right?

Bumping this, does anyone have input on how to tell if its the cou/mobo/ram/PSU? New PSU tomorrow, tried ram in all slots. I guess its either than cpu or mobo but need to know which one to send back if it is. So strange that I get the cpu speeds but not the performance
