Multiple graphic cards - how to use them?

Hi

I recently got an old GPU from a friend and installed it to my system as a second card. Both are from nvidia but they're different models.

Are there any use cases for two GPUs?

Maybe I could use one for physics?

What I would really like to do is to build windows on top of linux.

I want to use linux daily but I need windows for steam and games.

Is there a good way to use windows virtually and map one of the GPUs there?

Cards that I currently have in the system..

How would you use linux together with windows games?

thx

PhysX is a dead standard as there is like 2 or 3 games that actually use it and its actually worse performance to have a "dedicated' PhysX card as it does not improve your gaming experience, only consumes power and generates unecessary heat.

Using Linux it's possible to run Windows virtually and passthrough one of the GPUs so Windows has a dedicated card however it's really not trivial. In facts it's incredibly involved and makes Linux enthusiasts sweat.

Iirc Wendell did an article on how it's done a few years back over on Level One Tech.
